• Full 1080p resolution
• 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
• Samsung Digital Natural Image engine
• SRS TruSurround 

Wow, those are some great sounding features! But, what do they all mean? I’m glad you asked, because these specs definitely mean something to you. First off, the 1080p resolution LCD screen will offer you an amazing, crisp, vivid picture that will be a joy to watch. (1080p is a reference to the screen resolution. This is considered full HDTV video mode)

The 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio means that your Samsung LCD will offer brilliant colors regardless of whether the scene is dark, or bright. Many sets offer lower contrast ratios which often result in a muddy or slightly blurred image. The Samsung LCD however, has proven to display crisp, clean, and well defined images. Remember the comment “visual powerhouse”?

During our research we plodded through review after review. The one common thread we seemed to find present in nearly all reviews were comments regarding the brilliant and visually stunning picture the Samsung is capable of. You will be quite impressed.

According to Samsung, here is the function of the DNIe: “The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs in for an overall improvement in picture quality.” After seeing the images this screen can display first hand, let’s just say “I believe them.”

With most new television purchases, there is this overwhelming urge to purchase a new home theater sound system, as the built in speakers are usually not quite up to snuff. We were quite surprised to find that the hidden speakers within the Samsung provided a rather convincing experience. The SRS TruSurround XT technology did a good job of simulating 3D effects with crystal clear dialog.

What We Didn't Like

Ok, we’ve gushed enough about how easy it is to fall in love with this television. Now it’s time to take a look at the flip side of the coin. What are the cons when looking at a Samsung LNT4661F?

Black not as deep – While the Samsung does a phenomenal job of displaying the color black for an LCD, it’s not quite as deep and inky black as what you would find on a plasma for example

Greens and blues – Despite the brilliant image, you may occasionally notice a small bit of blue in the greens and reds. Barely noticeable, but it is still present.

Out of the box settings – When first taken out of the box, the initial factory settings may be a bit too overwhelming for some (Brightness settings are quite high), and you may spend some time fiddling with the remote to find the setting that is just right for you.
